ANYWHERE Science Practice Session at at the 4th European Climate Change Adaptation Conference

The ANYWHERE project has been selected to participate in a Science Practice Session at the 4th European Climate Change Adaptation Conference (ECCA 2019), the most important event in this field in Europe which will take place from 28th to 31st May in Lisbon, Portugal. Over the course of three days it will be disseminate the latest scientific progress on the multiple aspects related to climate change, considered to be one of the biggest challenges of the 21st century.
The Science Practice Session enitled ‘Science in support of EU Disaster Risk Reduction policies in the area of weather and climate extreme events’ will be held on Wednesday 29th May. During the session it is scheduled a keynote lecture of Daniel Sempere-Torres, director of Centre of Applied Research in Hydrometeorology (CRAHI) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC) and Coordinator of the ANYWHERE Project. Dr. Sempere-Torres will seek to explain ANYWHERE’s aproach, developments and results. Besides, the Pan-European multi-hazard platform (A4EU) for faster analysis and antcipation of weather-induced risks prior to event occurrence developed within the framework of the project will be presented.

Afterwards, the coordinators of other two European Horizon 2020 initiatives co-participating in this session (BeAWARE and i-REACT projects) will also give a keynote lecture. Philippe Quevauviller, on behalf of the European Comission DG-HOME, will present the Community of Users on Secure, Safe and Resilient Societies with focus on climate-disaster related events. The session will be closed with a discussion on the topic among participants.
The expected audience includes different actors involved in the field of disaster risk management, from policy-makers, scientists, practitioners to industry representatives.
